George Washington and Thomas Jefferson both grew hemp. Ben Franklin owned a mill that made hemp paper. The US Declaration of Independence was written on hemp paper.

Before U were thought of or time had begun,
God stuck U in the name of His Son.
And each time U pray in His name, you'll see it's true,
You can't spell JesUs and not include U.
You're a pretty big part of His wonderful name,
For U, He was born; that's why He came.
And His great love for U is the reason He died.
It even takes U to spell crUcified.

"So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs" (John 21:15).
Do We Love the Lord More Than Our Kinsmen?
If we do, we will not let them keep us from obeying the gospel. We will be willing to leave the religion they have accepted if it is proven wrong. We will not let them keep us from attending the services of the Lord's church. Remember, Jesus said, "He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me" (Matthew 10:37).
Do We Love the Lord More Than Money?
If we do, we will not make the heaping of riches the chief object of our living. We will give liberally of our means to the Lord (2 Corinthians 8:1-5). Remember, the Lord said, "For the love of money is the root of all evil" (1 Timothy 6:10).

David, the son of Jesse, wore a lot of different hats in his lifetime. He was a shepherd, armorbearer, and harp player for King Saul; a soldier, king, and prophet of Jehovah; a husband, and a father. While each of his roles had its distinct challenges, surely nothing was more challenging to him than being a dad. As a parent, David showed some traits that are worthy of imitation, but he also demonstrated serious flaws that we would do well to avoid. Consider these brief observations on King David as a father.
David did not properly restrain and discipline his sons.
When David's son Amnon raped David's daughter Tamar, David "was very wroth" (2 Samuel 13:21), but there is no indication in the Bible that he did anything about it. Later, we read that when Adonijah, David's son, tried to steal his father's throne, David "had not displeased [rebuked, nkjv] him at any time" (1 Kings 1:6). Tolerance and lack of discipline helped corrupt David's family. Remember Eli's failure to restrain his sons properly (1 Samuel 3:13).

It occurred in a college softball game in Ellensburg, Washington, in which Western Oregon was facing Central Washington in the second game of a double header. The game was scoreless when Western Oregon's Sara Tucholsky stepped to the plate in the top of the second inning with two runners on base. The first pitch was a called strike. She swung at the second pitch and knocked it over the center field fence!
This was Tucholsky's first-ever homerun, and in her jubilation, she missed first base on her home run trot. When she turned back to tag the base, her right knee buckled. Instantly in pain, she managed to crawl back to first base.
According to Graham Hays, "Umpires confirmed that the only option available under the rules was to replace Tucholsky at first base with a pinch runner and have the hit recorded as a two-run single instead of a three-run home run. Any assistance from coaches or trainers while she was an active runner would result in an out. So, Western Oregon Coach Knox prepared to make the substitution, taking both the run and the memory from Tucholsky."

Sin is "a bad habit" that "just comes naturally," say Leslie and Emily, both age 12.
Sin is more than a bad habit, and it didn't always come naturally. It's a choice that began in the Garden of Eden.
"Adam and Eve messed up" so that "we are born with sin in our hearts," say Julianne, 11, and Dominique, 6.
In fact, "Adam and Eve started the sinning generation," according to Drew, 10. Now, things in the world are so messed up, says Jeffrey, 11: "Sometimes, we think it's cool."
Yes, Adam and Eve started the "sinning generation" but quickly found themselves outside of a perfect place created by God to fulfill all their needs.

The phrase "In God We Trust" first appeared on a U.S. coin on the 2-cent piece of 1864, and has been on all coins and paper bills since 1957.
It was declared the national motto by Congress in 1956. The one dollar Federal Reserve Note of October 1957 was the first U.S. paper money with the motto. [38] The U.S. Pledge of Allegiance was modified in 1954 to add the phrase "under God".
Various polls have been conducted to determine Americans' actual beliefs regarding God:
A 2006 online Harris Poll of 2,010 U.S. adults (18 and older) found that[39] 73% of those surveyed believed in God, with 58% being "absolutely certain" and 15% "somewhat certain".

"The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you."

PAKISTAN
Christians Abducted at Gunpoint by Muslim Extremists
On June 21, 16 Christians were abducted by Muslim extremists when they gathered to pray in Academy Town, Peshawar, Pakistan. According to The Voice of the Martyrs contacts in Pakistan, "Salamat Masih and 30 of his family and close friends were gathered to pray and celebrate the birth of his daughter, when 12 Taliban [members] of the Lashka-e-Islam group broke into his house yelling and shouting. They held the believers at gunpoint. The Muslim house-owner, Haji Muhammad Saraj, was also present at the time to collect rent." VOM contacts added, "With machine and automatic guns, they forcibly separated the men from the women and children. Slapping the Christian men, they commanded all 16 men, including Pastor Zulifqar and Haji Muhammad Saraj, to get into the five waiting vehicles." The 16 Christian men were held captive for an hour. "They were beaten and abused, and had all their money and mobile phones stolen from them. During this time, the Taliban attempted to persuade Pastor Zulifqar to convert to Islam, which he unquestionably refused. After sunset the Taliban took them to another place where they were kept in a cave until their release 10 hours later," VOM contacts reported. Pray for believers in Pakistan. Pray God protects them and provides for all their needs. Also pray their courageous testimonies will draw nonbelievers into fellowship with Him.

| Jesus: Why Did Jesus Have to Die? |
|
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
Romans 8:1-3
A reader writes, "I understand Jesus died for our sins. I believe it but I just can't understand why he had to do it. Didn't God have power over everything? I have looked for the answer to this question for a long time. Please help."
I'm sure that many people struggle with this same issue so let me explain. Because God is a God of infinite justice, he cannot forgive sin without justice being served. Otherwise he wouldn't be God. This means that all sin must be judged according to the moral law of God and the universe. We can no more defy this law and live than we can defy the law of gravity by jumping out of an airplane without a parachute. The end result will be death unless-unless we apply another law, the law of aerodynamics. This law makes it possible for an airplane to fly and a parachute to lower us to the earth gradually and thereby save us.

Ways to Pray – Only One Way
There are endless resources offering techniques, rituals, and even objects illustrating the ways to pray. Judging from the extensive array of books, radio programs, and websites that address praying, one desire continues to endure through the centuries, “Lord, teach us to pray . . .” (Luke 11:1). In our relationship with the Creator, we long to keep our communication with the Lord personal and true. The Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13) provides Jesus’ response as the way to achieve that communication with the Father. Since individuals are most familiar with the King James Version, or its musical counterpart, let’s consider each verse of Jesus’ prayer:
“Our Father, which art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.” When adoration is expressed, a prayer of worship is offered. God receives our highest esteem (1 Chronicles 16:29; Isaiah 6:3). As an adoring child, we center our attention on our Father’s holiness and magnificence.
“Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, in earth, as it is in heaven.” As we familiarize ourselves once again with WHO we are speaking to, we acknowledge God’s authority in a prayer of submission. This way of praying is crucial if we desire answered prayer (1 John 5:14). Submission to God’s authority requires that we humble ourselves, knowing that His will may differ from our personal desires (2 Chronicles 7:14-15). Yet we choose to be obedient to His will (Luke 22:41-42). The greatest prayer of submission was modeled through Jesus Christ.

Archaeologists have unearthed in Jordan what they believe to be the world’s first church, according to a report on Monday.
"We have uncovered what we believe to be the first church in the world, dating from 33 AD to 70 AD," Abdul Qader al-Hussan, the head of Jordan's Rihab Center for Archaeological Studies, was quoted by The Jordan Times as saying.
He added that the discovery was “amazing”.
The nearly 2,000-year-old church was discovered underneath Saint Georgeous Church in Rihab, Mafraq, in northern Jordan near the Syrian border. St Georgeous dates back to 230 AD, and is considered the oldest “proper” church in the world.
